Help us raise £10,000 to upgrade our Multi Use Games Area

The Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) here at The Firs is not only used by our charity to support the work we deliver, it is also used by local sports clubs and associations, but more importantly it is used by our community.

The MUGA is hired out to generate a small income for our charity which is then used towards the upkeep of the surface and the cost of the lighting. However, more importantly it is a community asset that is free for public use outside of any bookings. In fact, the local community use it for free more than 60% of the week and varies from young people playing football outside of school, to adults popping by and having a fitness session in their lunch breaks or before/after work.

The surface itself is the old, outdated 2G sand filled synthetic grass and it is coming to the end of it's lifespan.  We are hoping to raise funds to replace this with a 3G synthetic grass surface that uses yarn technology to provide the ultimate combination of advanced performance and durability.

We are working with funding partners and our local council to upgrade the area and are hopeful to secure £25,000 of the overall £40,000 that is required. We have recently upgraded all of our floodlights to more economic fittings at a cost of £8,000 and we hope that setting up a Crowdfunder will enable us to raise the necessary funds to preserve the MUGA for years to come.

Anything that you can contribute towards helping us achieve our target will be hugely appreciated by so many.  Click here to donate
