Last Friday, we had a visit from local MP Sally-Ann Hart and Southern Housing CEO Paul Hackett.
They were visiting projects in North-East Hastings which are part of the RISE Programme. The RISE Hastings programme is led by not-for-profit business support organisation Let’s Do Business Group in collaboration with Southern Housing, Education Futures Trust and Hastings Borough Council to encourage and reinvigorate economic growth in the town. In a bid to support local residents to learn new skills, secure employment and even run and grow their own businesses, Education Futures Trust is providing a range of workshops and courses covering events management, horticulture, carpentry, childcare, floristry, bike maintenance and catering.
Their visit coincided with a visit to our first RISE workshop 'Barista Training', which encouraged participants to come along and meet new people, enjoy a coffee and cake and learn about how to make a great coffee. MP Sally-Ann got stuck in and learnt how to use the coffee machine in our new Coffee Pod, and Paul Hackett got to try one of the participant’s first attempt at a cappuccino. The workshop was an introduction to our course which starts this week, and is the first in a series of workshops and courses that will run until Spring 2025.
Look out on our courses page and socials for information about future workshops and courses.
